téa and me.

.i've always had a thing for Téa Leoni
i think it was ever since the Family Man.
a C+/B- contemporary version of A Christmas Carol with Nicholas Cage whom I'm not particularly a fan.

Recently, I discovered Madam Secretary.
I've watched all of the episodes via OnDemand within the last week.
i'm addicted.

It's nice having her back in my life.

and from Pandora. it's scary how well it knows me.

i see .You

a while ago, i watched a strange
.. . albeit memorable and unique ben affleck movie .To The Wonder
one line hung on my heart since watching it.
i've always believed it to be true.

even on the worst days, there will always be one, sometimes barely visible- but always there.
one message reminding me that these _ our pains, our sadnesses, whatever frustrations _ are temporary.
Our hope is in Him.
without a shadow of a doubt I believe that "we were made to see [Him]." [4:55]

while at my sister's church this weekend, we worshipped with a rend collective experiment song i posted somewhere a bit ago.

i've listened to it probably twenty times since i have returned home yesterday.
ironic, how in these two, almost polar opposite art forms. ..
He is ever so clearly reflected.

.Build Your Kingdom Here
lyrics

  • Come set your rule and reign
  • In our hearts again
  • Increase in us we pray
  • Unveil why we're made
  • Come set our hearts ablaze with hope
  • Like wildfire in our very souls
  • Holy Spirit come invade us now
  • We are Your Church
  • We need Your power
  • In us
  • We seek Your kingdom first
  • We hunger and we thirst
  • Refuse to waste our lives
  • For You're our joy and prize
  • To see the captive hearts released
  • The hurt; the sick; the poor at peace
  • We lay down our lives for Heaven's cause
  • We are Your church
  • We pray revive
  • This Earth
  • Build Your kingdom here
  • Let the darkness fear
  • Show Your mighty hand
  • Heal our streets and land
  • Set Your church on fire
  • Win this nation back
  • Change the atmosphere
  • Build Your kingdom here
  • We pray
  • Unleash Your kingdom's power
  • Reaching the near and far
  • No force of hell can stop
  • Your beauty changing hearts
  • You made us for much more than this
  • Awake the kingdom seed in us
  • Fill us with the strength and love of Christ
  • We are Your church
  • We are the hope
  • On Earth

Won't admit to you how many times I've listened to since.
It may be a wee bit embarrassing.

Haven't done a Writer's Workshop post in what seems forever..

    .putting it lightly.

    Here was this week's prompt.

5.) On a piece of paper write down something that makes you happy...

"if you don't take money, they can't tell you what to do.. .
that's the key to the whole thing"

"if we all went out looking like a slob like me,
it'd be a pretty dreary world."

    loving the work of Inslee.

Joe Black, my parents and I

the movie Meet Joe Black has always held a special place in my heart. ..
And it has nothing to do with Brad Pitt. I can take or leave him.
Honestly, I enjoyed Anthony Hopkins just as much as I did Mr. Pitt in this movie.

I will most likely get mocked for this post by my Sister and brother-in law,
as I do for admitting my true admiration for the film.
They doubt my taste in films. I'm OK with that.
When something tugs at my heart strings, I don't deny it. Almost to a fault.
But this_ like almost everything else in my life has taken on a new meaning.

    This is the theme song.

The film has always made me think of my dad and i
: just like Billy Joel's Lullaby.
they both reflect something special, i can't even begin to put into words.

    the movie has changed.
now.. my mom has joined my dad, joe black and I.

yup, i said it. somewhat comical.
    if only, right?
I'm needing to watch it again.

Don't know if my body can handle any more tears.
I'm almost fresh out this week.
    and it's only Tuesday.

    maybe next week.

    Kimberly-ness

so many videos posted as of late
but this one is quite special.
watched You, Me and Dupree again tonight. can't remember how many times i've seen it.
but this caught my attention. as silly as it is. it's so very true.
we all have this in us.
some [insert name here] - ness.
my happiness in the last couple of years has come partially because i've finally felt comfortable being MYSELF.
and not caring what others think.
not being concerned if people don't like what i say.
or what i wear or what i think.
they may very likely think i'm kooky..or as one of my besties has nicknamed me, loopy.. .
    and i'm fine with that.

in fact, i quite like it.

    sunday 100.6

the first ten _ of last half.. .

    49.  the sound of a running bath.tub.
part of the reason is from my own childhood.
the other part  =  bathtime for my nieces and nephews.
nothin' like this little baby belly and bottom in the tub.
    aDorable.

    48. the feeling of putting chapstick on. .. or maybe it's just this one specific chapstick i've had for a bit now. the reasoning could be two.fold.

    47. the center of Westfield, New Jersey. go.. you'll love it. make sure to visit The Town Book Store.

    46. window waves

    45. the smell of summer rain.. those quick rainshowers when.. moments later everything has evaporated. there's a certain scent.

    44. when people i love and .... who are part of my heart. . are happy

    43. a good fountain Coca.Cola_ i don't do diet soda. never have. never will.

    42. cans.
    I've become slightly obsessed.
have them in my apartment. my classroom.
put flowers in them. wrap cute farm ribbon 'round them. each table group at school has their pencils and pens, erasers in them. quite useful they are. and free.

    41. my Grand.father
we were kindred spirits of sorts. and he loved me more than anything.
he was an artist. a wise ass.
could be mean as all else, but had all the love in his heart for his family.
the whole town of madison knew him in the two months after he moved in, Big Lou _ but only 5 feet tall, loved food. Sen.Sen., cashews, and rye toast. always had his camera with him.
just thinking about him makes me cry. i miss him.

    40. the beach at night. not during the day. i actually hate it during the day. i will now readily admit that i'm not a beach person. that's really not the popular opinion. but since #64. after growing into myself.. i am willing to admit this .. sun poisoning is not my favorite thing. and that seems to conveniently happen each time i head toward the beach these days. or as in Fools Rush In style, [5:12] one of my favorite movies...

in the 'movie version' of my life, there are men with boomboxes out in the rain.
ask my sister, she'll tell ya.

    Prayer Explained.

Evan Almighty is on television tonight.
There are a couple of scenes in both this film and also Bruce Almighty, where Morgan Freeman [who plays God] explains things just perfectly.

    Let me ask you something:::
If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? or does he give them the opportunity to be patient?

If you prayed for courage, does God give them courage? or does He give them opportunities to be courageous?"...

    Neatly Outside of the Box

There are two versions of my life: the real one - the day to day, minute by minute version. And the movie one. This one is played out in my mind - all the things I wish to happen - maybe - could've should've - if only had happened. The movie version isn't always all happy, but just like the thirty minute sitcoms, everything works itself out in the end. All the loose ends tied back up and neatly packed back in the box.

In my movie life, people don't leave - without saying real goodbyes. And if per chance, they do, they return days later realizing their folly, to sing a ballad outside the window. Or stand outside in the rain all day waiting with a boombox. They catch you at the very last second before you board the airplane. Or maybe set a date to meet you in six months on the very top floor of the Empire State Building. Even in death, these characters find a way to communicate, sending letters even after their final goodbye was said.

The two versions of my life came crashing in on me this past week - leaving me in complete despair. Ask anyone around me.

I have fallen for him, leaving me completely vulnerable. Especially at that key scene of goodbye - the one for which so many movies have set me up so wrongly. I wasn't expecting a ballad or a date to meet at the top of some tall building. All I wanted was to see him. But without the other character, I was left to play the scene alone. Feeling completely helpless, confused and heartbroken.

The daytime routine of the week was able to snap me somewhat back into reality. But another reality still rang true.
He was gone. He is gone.

As much as I daydream about the movie version of my life, nothing ever plays out the way you think it will. This week certainly proved that to be true. No matter how much we try to fit everything neatly in a box, there will always be ties hanging over, edges popping back out. The truth is - there was a reason why you opened the box in the first place.

a few of my favorite things

My mother has been in and out of the hospital over the past few weeks. On the way out of my apartment today to visit her,
something caught my eye on the stoop.
    a bright blue robin's egg.
God sends signs of His love in the simplest ways sometimes.. .
I can't help but giggle at Him.
I walked off of the steps smiling _ saying 'Thank you'.

The best of the best from.. .

    This is for YOU, Mom.

    Fireflies and Coffee

My sister sent me a Facebook music dedication off of a movie we recently watched while she was in town visiting - P.S. I Love You. As much as she thinks the movie is frilly and silly.. . there are parts of it which I adore. I can't help but listen to the theme song tonight on repeat as it is all that I am feeling. My mind is racing, and yet I don't want to go to bed and lose this night. This is going to be hard.

    Pause playlist first - only a 30 second clip.. . Track 25 - P.S. I Love You
